As you may have noticed there has been an uptick of crime in our neighborhood. Along with Councilmember McDuffie's office, we are working to get have a community meeting with MPD where they can hear our concerns and hopefully provide a plan of action. In the meantime, I want to encourage folks to call 3-1-1 to report non-emergency crimes. Also, consider participating in DC's private security camera rebate program to make it easier to share videos and images of crimes once MPD is on the scene.Read more

I hope you had a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday period and that the year is off to a good start for you and your family. During 2018, working together, we made progress on some issues facing our neighborhood. But much work remains to be done -- especially around crime. Just today, we had another shooting at 20th Street NE and Rhode Island Ave, NE. This is scary. But the situation is not hopeless. Instead, we should use this incident as an incentive to redouble our efforts to work with MPD, the councilmember's office, various DC agencies, and other community organizations to keep our neighborhood safe.
